An unexpectedly hard shot by Frédson Lopes in the 14th minute of play forced Ourupu's goalkeeper Rony Varela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rony Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frédson Lopes, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Rony Varela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jano da Costa in the 17th minute of play. After some careless play in the Ourupu defense, Zézinho Cabral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rony Varela. The Ourupu fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rony Varela should have stopped the shot. Zézinho Cabral's late challenge caught a Ourupu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 41st minute, Frédson Lopes made a precise shot to the right of Rony Varela. Ourupu's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. After a rather tough play, Ourupu's Oscar Abreu got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 45th minute of the match Geovânio Gonçalves sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rony Varela skillfully saved the ball. After the first half Dois Irmãos Sport Club were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Severino Rocha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
