CORINTHIANS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Jaguarembe SS the free kick. After 28 played minutes CORINTHIANS got a freekick which was hit by Zeca Batista. After a defensive mix-up in CORINTHIANS's zone, Oscar Vidal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hernani Albuquerque came out of the goal and Oscar Vidal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hernani Albuquerque stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Toninho Faria's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. Oscar Vidal's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 35thth minute, Hernani Albuquerque skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Oscar Vidal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jaguarembe SS's Válbson Trancoso got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Jaguarembe SS booed when CORINTHIANS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelsinho Teles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jaguarembe SS's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luisão Mesquita in the 46th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dorian Paes to strike the kick off in the second half. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Toninho Faria couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Toninho Faria in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hernani Albuquerque prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Oscar Vidal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st match minute, CORINTHIANS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorian Paes to maneuver through the defense. In the 64th minute, Toninho Faria left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Jaguarembe SS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. In the 83rd minute Toninho Faria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hernani Albuquerque saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Toninho Faria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Hernani Albuquerque tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. CORINTHIANS's Hernani Albuquerque played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Toninho Faria in the 90th minute of play. 91 minutes into the match, Jaguarembe SS's goalkeeper Sílvio Luiz Neto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alessandro Hermes. 95 minutes into the game, Oscar Vidal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
