Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Hélio Prado started the match with the kick off. Mané Pinho hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. In the 6thth minute of the game Nuno Massa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fortaleza EC's Joélson Mattos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 6th match minute, Fortaleza EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramón Ramos to maneuver through the defense. Alessandro Arruda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 15 minutes into the match, Terrinha's goal looked a bit too open when Hélio Prado came free, but Dráusio da Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joélson Mattos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albertino Branco in the 17th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alessandro Arruda got free with Dráusio da Costa in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hélio Prado was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 20th minute. Fortaleza EC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Luiz Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Terrinha's Marcinho Jacinto suffered a sprained foot after 23 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Ramón Ramos charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ramón Ramos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Fortaleza EC's Ramón Ramos got a free kick in the 24th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hélio Prado in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dráusio da Costa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dráusio da Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hélio Prado in the 36th minute of play. Hélio Prado's late challenge caught a Terrinha's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hélio Prado helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Fortaleza EC's Hélio Prado got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 45th minute, Luiz Fonseca ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joélson Mattos was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The Fortaleza EC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Terrinha were winning 0-1.

51 minutes into the match, Hélio Prado had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dráusio da Costa. Terrinha's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hélio Prado was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. If Alessandro Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dráusio da Costa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hélio Prado went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Terrinha's zone, Alessandro Arruda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dráusio da Costa came out of the goal and Alessandro Arruda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 65 played minutes Fortaleza EC got a freekick which was hit by Romeu Abraão. Terrinha's Nilton Montenegro shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 66th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Joélson Mattos but with some difficulty. Dráusio da Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alessandro Arruda, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Terrinha's Dráusio da Costa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hélio Prado in the 70th minute of play. Alessandro Arruda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hélio Prado in the 84th minute of play forced Terrinha's goalkeeper Dráusio da Costa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Alessandro Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dráusio da Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hélio Prado, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Alessandro Arruda took the ball and in the 93 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dráusio da Costa. Dráusio da Costa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. Fortaleza EC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
