After 37 played minutes, Seduc FC's Cléberson Faria shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Valdomiro Moreno came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Seduc FC reached it. Gualter Pombal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 47 minutes, Flavinho Mattos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Seduc FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Flavinho Mattos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tony Terra to make the kick off. Flavinho Mattos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Carlos Maia ran back to his position shaking his head. Wilton Guimarães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vivaldo Diniz having to interfere. Cléberson Faria's late challenge caught a Ipatinga AC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cléberson Faria helped the player get up and apologised. Tarcisio Saldanha made in the 96th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Seduc FC's Cléberson Faria. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
