The supporters of Quarteis booed when Clube de Regatas Flamengo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexandre Marques didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Quarteis's zone, Reynaldo Peixoto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Adolfo Cearense came out of the goal and Reynaldo Peixoto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Reynaldo Peixoto kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving João Adolfo Cearense. That made the score 1-0 in the 19 minute of play. João Adolfo Cearense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reynaldo Peixoto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Victor Velloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Victor Velloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeremias Sabóia having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Quarteis's Filipe Maciel got a free kick in the 37th minute. Evaristo Abraão charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Evaristo Abraão the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Clube de Regatas Flamengo booed when Quarteis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evaristo Abraão didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Reynaldo Peixoto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. João Adolfo Cearense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reynaldo Peixoto, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Quarteis's João Adolfo Cearense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reynaldo Peixoto in the 72nd minute of play. 74 minutes had been played when some careless play by Quarteis's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Valdomiro Pimenta was slow to take the kick. During this time Clube de Regatas Flamengo's players had a chance to rest. With his leg Jeremias Sabóia managed to avoid a goal in the 77thth minute, when Quarteis's Evaristo Abraão fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 78 minutes into the match, Victor Velloso dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jeremias Sabóia, 1-1. Antônio Carlos Paulista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Clube de Regatas Flamengo getting a freekick after 85 minutes play.
