The referee showed Márcio Toscano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 24th match minute, Ingaseiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Márcio Toscano to maneuver through the defense. 35 minutes into the match, Danilo Mello had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jeremias Sabóia. Clube de Regatas Flamengo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Danilo Mello was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After 48 minutes of play Ingaseiro's Márcio Toscano was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Clube de Regatas Flamengo booed when Ingaseiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 49 match minutes in a wonderful position. Márcio Toscano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Delfim Passos acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 50th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Valdomiro Pimenta. After the first half Ingaseiro were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Laércio Veloso made the kick off in the second half. Delfim Passos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reynaldo Peixoto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ingaseiro's Delfim Passos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reynaldo Peixoto in the 56th minute of play. When Reynaldo Peixoto came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Clube de Regatas Flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reynaldo Peixoto couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Reynaldo Peixoto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clube de Regatas Flamengo's supporters rose to their feet, but Reynaldo Peixoto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Delfim Passos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alexandre Marques fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delfim Passos having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Aírton Pontes fired a really elegant long shot, but Jeremias Sabóia threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. The Clube de Regatas Flamengo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. 77 minutes into the match, Ingaseiro's goal looked a bit too open when Reynaldo Peixoto came free, but Delfim Passos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reynaldo Peixoto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Delfim Passos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reynaldo Peixoto in the 99th minute of play.
