Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 37 minutes into the match, Claudinei Chaves dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Luís Eduardo Monteiro, 2-0. Alexandre Marques fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Eduardo Monteiro having to interfere. 49 minutes into the match, Chernobyll's goal looked a bit too open when Alexandre Marques came free, but Luís Eduardo Monteiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alexandre Marques was the one to do the kick off. Clube de Regatas Flamengo's Reynaldo Peixoto got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Haroldo Viana in the 57th minute of play forced Clube de Regatas Flamengo's goalkeeper Jeremias Sabóia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Eduardo Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reynaldo Peixoto in the 63rd minute of play. Clube de Regatas Flamengo's Alexandre Marques got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. For all the effort they put into the match, the Chernobyll players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Clube de Regatas Flamengo.
