Eurico Medeiros hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Edgard Donatello was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 23rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. In the 72nd minute Eurico Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Murillo Peres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benfica's Joaquim Penha got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Benfica's goalkeeper Murillo Peres, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Benfica players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
