After taking down the ball on Horizonte EC's corner Francisco Valadares fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Diego Paulista quite easily take care of the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

51 minutes into the match, Ricerspool United's goal looked a bit too open when Váldson Lopez came free, but Diego Paulista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 52nd match minute, Ricerspool United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luciano Ramalho to maneuver through the defense. Luiz Eduardo Romero could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Carlos Alberto Nunes made a huge save. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
