Kléberson Castro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dida Ferreira in the 3rd minute of the match. 5 minutes into the match, Sapesal's Valdomiro Zonta sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wellington Tande narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Severino Santana got free with Wellington Tande in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Valdomiro Zonta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Wellington Tande tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Caio Vides had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 14 minutes into the game, Sapesal's Valdomiro Zonta nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wellington Tande made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Severino Santana could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Wellington Tande made a huge save. In the 23rd minute, Caio Vides got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 29 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Vila Velha! Henrique Monteiro's late challenge caught a Vila Velha's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Henrique Monteiro helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Sapesal getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Dráusio Carvalho hit a great ball. Valdomiro Zonta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wellington Tande having to make a save. Inácio de Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Wellington Tande tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 47th match minute, Vila Velha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cléber Trigo to maneuver through the defense.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Valdomiro Zonta stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Severino Santana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Wellington Tande tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valdomiro Zonta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Severino Santana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valdomiro Zonta struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Wellington Tande didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sapesal. The audience was convinced that Valdomiro Zonta's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wellington Tande was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. Wellington Tande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdomiro Zonta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Caio Vides managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sapesal's supporters rose to their feet, but Caio Vides was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wellington Tande breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vila Velha's Wellington Tande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dráusio Carvalho in the 70th minute of play. Valdomiro Zonta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Wellington Tande tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Caio Vides sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valdomiro Zonta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wellington Tande having to interfere. After having played for 84 minutes, Caio Vides managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sapesal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Caio Vides was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wellington Tande made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Inácio de Medeiros in the 86th minute of play. If Valdomiro Zonta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Sapesal getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Henrique Monteiro hit a great ball. When Dagoberto Zanette came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Vila Velha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dagoberto Zanette couldn't finish the play. There was no doubt that Sapesal were the better team. Sapesal's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
