The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 played minutes Sapesal got a freekick which was hit by Clemente Linares. Kléberson Castro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Danilo Koehler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Caio Vides received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Juan Aguiar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 15th minute Danilo Koehler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléberson Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juan Aguiar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caio Vides, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 23rd match minute, Sapesal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henrique Monteiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute of the match Nilson Barbosa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kléberson Castro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Kléberson Castro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Danilo Koehler in the 25th minute of the match. In the 27th minute, Clemente Linares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 31 minutes of play, Poa Zna Leste's Edgar Sousa made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kléberson Castro was left in no man's land by his defense there! Caio Vides fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Aguiar having to interfere. The supporters of Poa Zna Leste booed when Sapesal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clemente Linares didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Poa Zna Leste's Jorginho Falcão got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 46th minute, Severino Santana fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 47th minute, Clemente Linares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Valdomiro Zonta to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Poa Zna Leste's goalkeeper Juan Aguiar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jorginho Falcão kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. After 62 minutes Poa Zna Leste's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. The Sapesal fans' excitement grew in the 68th match minute when Sapesal's Valdomiro Zonta looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Caio Vides had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kléberson Castro was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Danilo Koehler showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 73 minute of play. In the 79th minute Danilo Koehler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kléberson Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Inácio de Medeiros charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Valdomiro Zonta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Juan Aguiar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Juan Aguiar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sapesal. The Sapesal manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Poa Zna Leste to win.
