In the 32nd minute Gilberto Barbosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovani da Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fausto de Sousa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 39thth minute of the game Wilton de Andrade who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SELETIMÃO's Sydney Alvarenga was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rony Fernandes during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 40th minute of the game. One of SELETIMÃO:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Caturai:s goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Wilton de Andrade made the kick off in the second half. After recieving a nice pass, Caturai's Pedro Luís Saldanha tried to score from far away in the 55th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Wilton de Andrade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Fausto de Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilton de Andrade struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Sydney Alvarenga didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Caturai. Caturai's Fausto de Sousa got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sydney Alvarenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton de Andrade in the 66th minute of play. Geovani da Silveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilberto Barbosa in the 68th minute of the match. In the 76th minute, Wilton de Andrade got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fabiano Rezende kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Wilton de Andrade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Sydney Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. SELETIMÃO's Sydney Alvarenga proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save SELETIMÃO from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Fausto de Sousa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caturai's supporters rose to their feet, but Fausto de Sousa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sydney Alvarenga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Norberto Paes's late challenge caught a Caturai's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Norberto Paes helped the player get up and apologised. 87 minutes into the game, one of SELETIMÃO:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Sydney Alvarenga, was totally fooled by Caturai's Pedro Luís Saldanha, who 90 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Wilton de Andrade recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
