The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 played minutes Manacanau got a freekick which was hit by Frederico do Vale. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gilberto Barbosa in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Beto de Souza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Beto de Souza didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Natanael de Queiroz went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Sydney Alvarenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruninho Bittencourt in the 12th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Furtado in the 22nd minute of play forced SELETIMÃO's goalkeeper Sydney Alvarenga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, SELETIMÃO's goal looked a bit too open when Bruninho Bittencourt came free, but Sydney Alvarenga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. César Travassos hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Aírton Coutinho charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aírton Coutinho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 31 played minutes SELETIMÃO got a freekick which was hit by Aírton Coutinho. Bruninho Bittencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Sydney Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 37 played minutes Manacanau got a freekick which was hit by Denílson Loureiro. In the 43rd minute, Rafael Furtado made a precise shot to the right of Sydney Alvarenga. SELETIMÃO's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 47 minutes into the match, Manacanau's goalkeeper Beto de Souza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Natanael de Queiroz. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Rafael Furtado made the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind SELETIMÃO's goalkeeper Sydney Alvarenga, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 61 played minutes SELETIMÃO got a freekick which was hit by César Travassos. Bruninho Bittencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Sydney Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Beto de Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilberto Barbosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Luiz Paulo Amaral's late challenge caught a Manacanau's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luiz Paulo Amaral helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Manacanau booed when SELETIMÃO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Paulo Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 71st minute, Rafael Furtado fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Sydney Alvarenga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bruninho Bittencourt in the 75th minute. Natanael de Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Beto de Souza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Natanael de Queiroz in the 81st minute of the match. Rafael Furtado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Sydney Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Bruninho Bittencourt came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Manacanau fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bruninho Bittencourt couldn't finish the play. Denílson Loureiro hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. If Rafael Furtado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
