Nelson Dante breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 11th minute of the match Paula Tejando FC got a corner. Philipps FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Silvério Botelho ran over to the corner to take the kick. Alfredo Valle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Laércio Sousa during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Paula Tejando FC's Laércio Sousa got a free kick in the 17th minute. Paula Tejando FC's Gilmar Soares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedito Tinoco in the 23rd minute of play. If Alfredo Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Júlio Pereira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Dante having to interfere. Júlio Pereira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nelson Dante read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. 47 minutes into the game, Benedito Tinoco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Philipps FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Paula Tejando FC the free kick. Benedito Tinoco hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. Nelson Dante took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Júlio Pereira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Nelson Dante didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Júlio Pereira went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. The supporters of Philipps FC booed when Paula Tejando FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdir Braga didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Philipps FC's zone, Orlando Martins stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelson Dante came out of the goal and Orlando Martins tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlos Araújo kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Martins in the 77th minute of play forced Philipps FC's goalkeeper Nelson Dante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nelson Dante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orlando Martins in the 84th minute of play. The supporters of Paula Tejando FC booed when Philipps FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gonçalo Guerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Philipps FC getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Benedito Tinoco hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Júlio Pereira put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Nelson Dante. Nelson Dante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júlio Pereira, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. When Carlinhos Vinhas came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Philipps FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlinhos Vinhas couldn't finish the play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Paula Tejando FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Philipps FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
