After a defensive mix-up in MANOLÃO's zone, Júlio Araújo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rubens Sabóia came out of the goal and Júlio Araújo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rubens Sabóia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Júlio Araújo went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score.

After 53 played minutes MANOLÃO got a freekick which was hit by Jarbas Veloso. When Ivo Bueno was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 58 minutes had been played. The supporters of BAHIA booed when MANOLÃO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivo Bueno didn't get a good kick on the ball. Júlio Araújo took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rubens Sabóia. Rubens Sabóia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. Luisinho Ortiz hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. BAHIA's Nildo Fernandes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cafu Prestes in the 65th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Júlio Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot. BAHIA's supporters rose to their feet, but Júlio Araújo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rubens Sabóia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 81 minutes into the game, BAHIA's Allan de Godoi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rubens Sabóia made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. In the 85th minute, one of MANOLÃO:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for MANOLÃO. A collision led to MANOLÃO getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Hugo Breckenfeld hit a great ball. Rubens Sabóia made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Sérgio de Castro sent off a good shot on target. In the 93rd minute, Júlio Araújo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Allan de Godoi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 98 played minutes BAHIA got a freekick which was hit by Luisinho Ortiz. When the match was over BAHIA could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than MANOLÃO throughout the match.
