The audience was convinced that Fausto de Godoi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Doni Mendonça was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Fausto de Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. NAVAS's supporters rose to their feet, but Fausto de Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Doni Mendonça breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fausto de Godoi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Doni Mendonça made a huge save. In the 9th minute, Rogério Arósio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulinho McLaren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Doni Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Supernova AD's Elivélton Silva got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Paulinho McLarens short, quick shot in the 33rdth minute got Doni Mendonça to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Doni Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fausto de Godoi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the match, NAVAS's goal looked a bit too open when Elivélton Silva came free, but Júlio Camargo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Júlio Camargo made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Elivélton Silva sent off a good shot on target. The referee ignored NAVAS's protests and gave Renato Pitta a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to NAVAS getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Renato Pitta hit a great ball. The Supernova AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Paulinho McLaren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doni Mendonça having to interfere. Doni Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto de Godoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Renato Pitta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Paulinho McLaren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 74th minute Fausto de Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doni Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Rodriguinho da Rocha fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto de Godoi in the 88th minute of play forced Supernova AD's goalkeeper Doni Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Supernova AD's Rodriguinho da Rocha got his second yellow card of the match in the 91st minute. The referee ordered Rodriguinho da Rocha off the ground.
