Afonso Faria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Haroldo Antunes in the 4th minute of the match. Ademar de Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 11th minute, Bebeto Moreno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ademar de Toledo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jatai's Ademar de Toledo got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dorian Jacinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armando Tavares having to interfere. In the 20th minute, Ademar de Toledo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Jatai fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. If Ademar de Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ademar de Toledo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Faria having to interfere. Dorian Jacinto struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Armando Tavares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montenêses. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ademar de Toledo in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Afonso Faria saved Montenêses from getting behind. During the 38th minute of the match Chico de Mendonça completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Chico de Mendonça a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Ademar de Toledo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Faria having to interfere. After 43 minutes, Josué Tróia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jatai and the Montenêses players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Jatai getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Josué Tróia hit a great ball. In the 46th minute Ademar de Toledo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Afonso Faria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Montenêses's Afonso Faria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo Antunes in the 49th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Haroldo Antunes to make the kick off. Afonso Faria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Haroldo Antunes in the 55th minute of the match. The Montenêses fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Afonso Faria should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Haroldo Antunes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Afonso Faria was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. Afonso Faria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Haroldo Antunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. If Dorian Jacinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 83rd minute, Ademar de Toledo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
