The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Virgílio Baiano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes Bahia got a freekick which was hit by Ricardinho Batista. Reginaldo Matos came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Tijucal F.C.'s Ruy de Barros. But to his dismay, Ruy de Barros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Reginaldo Matos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Maria Souza in the 58th minute of play. Ruy de Barros charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Walmyr de Lima couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Walmyr de Lima in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Reginaldo Matos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. José Maria Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Valdir Lucas during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Walmyr de Lima in the 84th minute of play forced Bahia's goalkeeper Reginaldo Matos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Maria Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reginaldo Matos having to interfere.
