The Cupijo fans' excitement grew in the 6th match minute when Cupijo's Sidnei Cearense looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a defensive mix-up in Escadilha's zone, Ramiro Simão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Inácio Vargas came out of the goal and Ramiro Simão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice moves Sidnei Cearense could shoot a difficult shot in the 11th minute, which Inácio Vargas however easily saved by the left post. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cupijo's goalkeeper Décio Pimenta, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. João Zonta, 18 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sidnei Cearense got free with Inácio Vargas in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ernani Damião kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Sidnei Cearense did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Inácio Vargas 27 minutes into the match. Inácio Vargas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ramiro Simão in the 32nd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Cupijo's Ramiro Simão slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Inácio Vargas. That made the score 3-0 after 37 minutes of play. 42 minutes into the match, Escadilha's goal looked a bit too open when Ramiro Simão came free, but Inácio Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Cupijo's Inácio Vargas threw himself towards the right post 48 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ramiro Simão, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ramiro Simão to make the kick off. Ramiro Simão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 64th minute Ramiro Simão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Inácio Vargas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Inácio Vargas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ramiro Simão, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee ended the match the Cupijo players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
