The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Atlético Alagoano's Jeferson de Senna shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 3rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Hélio Varela but with some difficulty. In the 8th minute, Dino Mattos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Atlético Alagoano booed when Guaraipos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fabiano França didn't get a good kick on the ball. Felipe Nogueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guilherme Matos having to interfere. In the 19th minute Aloísio das Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guilherme Matos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Diego Bastos kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Dedé Pernambucano shot a long shot in the 25th minute and a light blocked Guilherme Matos hadn't a chance when the ball went into goal on his right side. It was 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Genílson dos Santos in the 30th minute of play forced Guaraipos FC's goalkeeper Hélio Varela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 39 minutes into the match, Atlético Alagoano's goal looked a bit too open when Aloísio das Neves came free, but Guilherme Matos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guilherme Matos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aloísio das Neves in the 40th minute of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Felipe Nogueira to strike the kick off in the second half. When Thiago Mendonça came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Guaraipos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thiago Mendonça couldn't finish the play. If Aloísio das Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felipe Nogueira in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Guilherme Matos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Felipe Nogueira struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Guilherme Matos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guaraipos FC. 73 minutes into the game, Thiago Mendonça was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Guaraipos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlético Alagoano the free kick. After a rather tough play, Guaraipos FC's Thiago Mendonça got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Guilherme Matos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Nogueira in the 76th minute of the match. Genílson dos Santos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ronaldo Pombal scored 1-3 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hélio Varela, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 87th minute, Aloísio das Neves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Guilherme Matos was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. Aloísio das Neves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guilherme Matos having to interfere.
