Robinho Soeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edson Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th match minute, Serra Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Luiz Salgado to maneuver through the defense. Nildo Rodrigues recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Roger Borges showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nildo Rodrigues, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. When Curupai's Loramendi Ugarte in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Serra Futebol Clube's goalie prevented a goal. Nildo Rodrigues could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Roger Borges made a huge save. In the 48th minute, Pedro Luiz Salgado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Nildo Rodrigues made the kick off in the second half. Roger Borges made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waldir Rosado in the 53rd minute of play. Loramendi Ugarte in the 58thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Robinho Soeiro, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. With an all-out effort, Curupai's Robinho Soeiro threw himself towards the right post 63 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Carlos Eduardo de Senna, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Edson Simão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edson Simão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Robinho Soeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Edson Simão left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Curupai fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. If Loramendi Ugarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 84 played minutes Curupai got a freekick which was hit by Flavinho Peixoto. When Válter Santos fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Serra Futebol Clube's protests and gave Válter Santos a yellow card for diving instead. Válter Santos hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. In the 91st minute Jefferson Couto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robinho Soeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Serra Futebol Clube fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Curupai were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
