Laerte Paraense charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Laerte Paraense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Laerte Paraense hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. In the 21st minute, Jefferson Couto made a precise shot to the right of Humberto Alagoano. 09 de Julho's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Edson Simão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Humberto Alagoano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Loramendi Ugarte, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Loramendi Ugarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Alagoano having to interfere. Jefferson Couto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Humberto Alagoano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Curupai booed when 09 de Julho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patrick Vale didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Washington França to strike the kick off in the second half. If Loramendi Ugarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 53 minutes into the match, Curupai's goal looked a bit too open when Washington França came free, but Roger Borges reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Loramendi Ugarte who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Humberto Alagoano when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Laerte Paraense was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 60 minutes had been played. In the 61st match minute, 09 de Julho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Laerte Paraense to maneuver through the defense. 09 de Julho's Humberto Alagoano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edson Simão in the 67th minute of play. Roger Borges made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerson Sousa in the 76th minute of play. Loramendi Ugarte's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 79thth minute, Humberto Alagoano skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Jefferson Couto came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Curupai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jefferson Couto couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Jefferson Couto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curupai's supporters rose to their feet, but Jefferson Couto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Humberto Alagoano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
