Iraty's Dário Cordeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abelardo Sena in the 4th minute of play. With a little luck, Parnaiba EC's Waldir Aparecido got control of the ball when Edmílson Ortiz tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 20th match minute, Iraty was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edson Pontes to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Parnaiba EC's zone, Edmílson Ortiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Waldir Aparecido came out of the goal and Edmílson Ortiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edson Pontes in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Waldir Aparecido prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 36thth minute of the game Guto Luz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Parnaiba EC's Waldir Aparecido was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 44 minutes into the match, Iraty's Moisés Valladares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Waldir Aparecido narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
