The audience thought a goal was coming when Wilson Matos got free with Andrézinho de Carvalho in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpected shot in the 5th minute by Carlos Alberto Cardoso got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Luisinho Miranda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Váldson Terra having to interfere. In the 12th minute, Wilson Matos made a precise shot to the right of Andrézinho de Carvalho. Travessia FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. The supporters of Baluarte FC booed when Travessia FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gil Bittencourt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilson Matos's late challenge caught a Travessia FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wilson Matos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 17th minute, Wilson Matos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 23 minutes into the game, Dráuzio Amaral was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Baluarte FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Travessia FC the free kick. In the 24th match minute, Baluarte FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dráuzio Amaral to maneuver through the defense. Váldson Terra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel Garcia in the 27th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Baluarte FC's Erik Vinhas got a free kick in the 30th minute. Andrézinho de Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Alberto Cardoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. With a little luck, Travessia FC's Andrézinho de Carvalho got control of the ball when Wilson Matos tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luisinho Miranda in the 38th minute of play forced Baluarte FC's goalkeeper Váldson Terra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Wilson Matos came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Baluarte FC fans jumped to their feet. Baluarte FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilson Matos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Carlos Alberto Cardoso received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Andrézinho de Carvalho came out and tried to block the shot, but Carlos Alberto Cardoso slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 46th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Carlos Alberto Cardoso was the one to do the kick off. After 52 minutes, Percy da Rocha mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Baluarte FC and the Travessia FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 52 played minutes Baluarte FC got a freekick which was hit by Percy da Rocha. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 53rd minute of the game. One of Baluarte FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Travessia FC:s goal. Andrézinho de Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilson Matos, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. In the 63rd minute Wilson Matos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrézinho de Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 86th minute, Wilson Matos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Baluarte FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1.
