Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Brasilia's Carlos Fontes started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ronaldão Figueiredo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Kaká Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 11 minutes, Ademar Meira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Brasilia and the Atlético BR players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 13thth minute of the game Márcio Varela who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Brasilia's Jefferson Santos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jefferson Santos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raphael Fonseca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Atlético BR's Diguinho Maranhense got a free kick in the 19th minute. Jefferson Santos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Márcio Varela went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 27th minute of the match Vladimir Messias shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jefferson Santos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Atlético BR's Márcio Varela got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 32nd match minute, Brasilia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Betinho Sampaio to maneuver through the defense. In the 34th minute Raphael Fonseca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jefferson Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronaldão Figueiredo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Kaká Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Carlos Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jefferson Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raphael Fonseca in the 43rd minute of the match. Ronaldão Figueiredo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Brasilia fans' excitement grew in the 48th match minute when Brasilia's Carlos Fontes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Raphael Fonseca made a kick off. In the 54th minute, Raí Siqueira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Raphael Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 66th minute Ronaldão Figueiredo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaká Pinheiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Raphael Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Laércio Esteves's late challenge caught a Brasilia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Laércio Esteves helped the player get up and apologised. Ronaldão Figueiredo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kaká Pinheiro having to interfere. In the 79th minute Carlos Fontes suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. Laércio Esteves got his second yellow card in the match during the 79th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Laércio Esteves kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Ronaldão Figueiredo struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Kaká Pinheiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Brasilia. In the 83rd minute, Betinho Sampaio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kaká Pinheiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betinho Sampaio in the 87th minute of play. If Ronaldão Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Betinho Sampaio took the ball and in the 92 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kaká Pinheiro. Kaká Pinheiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldão Figueiredo in the 97th minute of play forced Atlético BR's goalkeeper Kaká Pinheiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 99 minutes into the match, Brasilia's Betinho Sampaio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kaká Pinheiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Atlético BR were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Brasilia's much stronger midfield.
