Juarês Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gerson Baiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juarês Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. When Luís Guilherme Borges fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Arcangelo's protests and gave Luís Guilherme Borges a yellow card for diving instead. Luís Guilherme Borges hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Juarês Silva was extremely unlucky when he, in the 27th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 42nd minute, Manuel Novaes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Arcangelo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

With an extended leg and a bit of luck Michel Varela prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 71 minutes into the match, Arcangelo's Luís Guilherme Borges sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Michel Varela narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 73rd match minute, Arcangelo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Guilherme Borges to maneuver through the defense.
