Arí Munhoz's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 7thth minute, Michel Varela skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Independente's defense didn't have a chance, in the 8th minute, when Jeremias da Costa scored to the left of an out of position Michel Varela, making the score, 1-0. Eriberto Berger hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Michel Varela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeremias da Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Régis Neves came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Independente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Régis Neves couldn't finish the play. Juarês Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 24thth minute of the game Jeremias da Costa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Independente's Michel Varela was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Independente booed when Zaion F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eriberto Berger didn't get a good kick on the ball. 32 minutes into the match, Zaion F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Victor Lago came free, but Rafael Souto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rafael Souto came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by Independente's Juarês Silva. But to his dismay, Juarês Silva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Arí Munhoz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Michel Varela. That made the score 2-1 in the 42 minute of play. A hard shot 48 in the game by Arí Munhoz from a close distance when the talented Michel Varela managed to make a qualified save. Independente's players were relieved. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Arí Munhoz in the 73rd minute of play forced Independente's goalkeeper Michel Varela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Independente's Michel Varela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeremias da Costa in the 77th minute of play. Rafael Souto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juarês Silva in the 79th minute of the match. 81 minutes into the match, Zaion F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Juarês Silva came free, but Rafael Souto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Régis Neves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafael Souto having to interfere. 84 minutes into the match, Independente's Juarês Silva sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rafael Souto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Vágner Torres was shown his second yellow card after 85 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 86th match minute, Independente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vágner Torres to maneuver through the defense. Jeremias da Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Michel Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 89 minutes into the game, Leandro Velloso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independente's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Zaion F.C. the free kick. When Régis Neves came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Independente fans jumped to their feet. But to his dismay, Régis Neves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. Zaion F.C.'s fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
