The referee ignored Cavalaria FC's protests and gave Nestor Coutinho a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cavalaria FC getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Cavalaria FC's Benedito Domingues got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 46 minutes into the match, Catarina F.C.'s goalkeeper Vivaldo Medeiros had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gilson Barral. André Prado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Benedito Domingues was the one to do the kick off. Vivaldo Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benedito Domingues in the 58th minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, Catarina F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Benedito Domingues came free, but Vivaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cavalaria FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
