Wanderson Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee felt a red card was in order, 7 minutes into the game, when Adalberto Messias put in a rough tackle. Adalberto Messias hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After 9 played minutes, Herreria's Horácio Paiva shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Clemente Sena came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Herreria reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Clemente Alagoano got free with Elias Severo in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 13th minute Diogo Pombal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clemente Sena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clemente Sena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geovani de Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Clemente Alagoano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elias Severo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Cornos .S.A's Clemente Sena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celso Leite in the 27th minute of play. Clemente Alagoano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elias Severo having to interfere. Gildo Félix sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Gildo Félix had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 35 minutes into the game, Luciano Quadros recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Elias Severo. Luciano Quadros showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Elias Severo made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Clemente Alagoano sent off a good shot on target. 46 minutes into the game, Gildo Félix was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cornos .S.A's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Herreria the free kick.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Diogo Pombal was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Cornos .S.A's goalkeeper Clemente Sena had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Geovani de Sousa. Clemente Sena made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Jarbas Sá sent off a good shot on target. Cornos .S.A's Clemente Sena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diogo Pombal in the 57th minute of play. Clemente Alagoano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Elias Severo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Herreria's goalkeeper Elias Severo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 62nd minute, Zé Vides hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 65 minutes into the match, Cornos .S.A's goalkeeper Clemente Sena had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Geovani de Sousa. Clemente Alagoano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Elias Severo having to make a save. In the 71st minute, Jean Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clemente Sena was a little too slow when Jarbas Sá got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 72nd minute. The score was now 1-1. When Clemente Alagoano came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Cornos .S.A fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clemente Alagoano couldn't finish the play. Geovani de Sousa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Clemente Sena made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geovani de Sousa in the 84th minute of play forced Cornos .S.A's goalkeeper Clemente Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 86 minutes into the match, Clemente Alagoano had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elias Severo. Herreria's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Clemente Alagoano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. 96 minutes into the match, Jarbas Sá notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Cornos .S.A's Clemente Sena. Clemente Sena was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
