Spectators: 7206 (Terracing: 5406, Seating: 1657, VIP seats: 143) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Dadá Palmeira took the kick off in the first half of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dadá Palmeira in the 3rd minute of play forced Itapinima AD's goalkeeper Hélder Dantas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Itapinima AD defense, Dadá Palmeira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hélder Dantas. The Itapinima AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hélder Dantas should have stopped the shot. Falange Vermelha RS's Fernandinho Reis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Fonseca in the 12th minute of play. After 14 played minutes Falange Vermelha RS got a freekick which was hit by Armando Zanette. When Magno Messias came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Itapinima AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Magno Messias couldn't finish the play. 17 minutes into the match, Falange Vermelha RS's Dadá Palmeira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hélder Dantas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Dadá Palmeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Hélder Dantas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Angelo Paranaense, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. 28 minutes into the game, Kléberson Cardozo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Falange Vermelha RS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itapinima AD the free kick. After a rather tough play, Falange Vermelha RS's Kléberson Cardozo got a free kick in the 28th minute. Fernandinho Reis acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 29th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Willian Veiga. When Kléberson Cardozo was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 36 minutes had been played. Rui Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernandinho Reis having to interfere. Fernandinho Reis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Fonseca in the 43rd minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rui Fonseca made a kick off. Afonso Recife received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Fernandinho Reis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Osvaldinho da Silveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fernandão de Azevedo charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fernandão de Azevedo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 64th minute, Fernandão de Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 65 played minutes, Itapinima AD's Willian Veiga shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Fernandinho Reis came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Itapinima AD reached it. Hélder Dantas made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Angelo Paranaense sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rui Fonseca in the 86th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fernandinho Reis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 87 played minutes Falange Vermelha RS got a freekick which was hit by Dadá Palmeira. Magno Messias blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fernandinho Reis having to make a save. Rui Fonseca might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fernandinho Reis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rui Fonseca ran back to his position shaking his head. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
