But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emílio do Nascimento couldn't finish the play. Marcus Koehler kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. In the 20th minute Mané de Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renatinho Leão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Valenciense AS's goal looked a bit too open when Emílio do Nascimento came free, but Leandro Campidelis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emílio do Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leandro Campidelis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruninho do Valle in the 33rd minute of play. In the 35th minute Mané de Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renatinho Leão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edmílson Arruda could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Renatinho Leão made a huge save. When Bruninho do Valle came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Campeão fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bruninho do Valle couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Valenciense AS's Marcus Koehler got a free kick in the 45th minute. If Emílio do Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mané de Alcântara to make the kick off. In the 56th minute, Emílio do Nascimento fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Leandro Campidelis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Emílio do Nascimento's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. When Valenciense AS's Edmílson Arruda in the 69th minute got a chance for a shot 69th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Campeão's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Valenciense AS's zone, Bruninho do Valle stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 75 minutes into the game, Campeão's Bruninho do Valle nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Leandro Campidelis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After 80 minutes, Severino Furlan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Valenciense AS and the Campeão players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mané de Alcântara might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Renatinho Leão. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mané de Alcântara ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 94th minute Mané de Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renatinho Leão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Campeão supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Campeão would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
