In the 15th minute Luan Cerezo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naldo Faria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Zé Carlos Carioca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Santos's supporters rose to their feet, but Zé Carlos Carioca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roger Valladares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 20 minutes into the match, Murilo de Sena notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Xaxim AD's Roger Valladares. Roger Valladares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Roger Valladares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murilo de Sena in the 22nd minute of the match. Pedro Augusto Loyola recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Nilmar Prado fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Xaxim AD's protests and gave Nilmar Prado a yellow card for diving instead. In the 29th match minute, Xaxim AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nilmar Prado to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 30 minutes, Zé Carlos Carioca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Real Santos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Carlos Carioca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Real Santos's Donato Ortiz got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 36 minutes into the match, Xaxim AD's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Carlos Carioca came free, but Roger Valladares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 38 played minutes Xaxim AD got a freekick which was hit by Marquinhos Simão. 40 minutes into the match, Xaxim AD's goal looked a bit too open when Donato Ortiz came free, but Roger Valladares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Xaxim AD's zone, Pedro Augusto Loyola stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roger Valladares came out of the goal and Pedro Augusto Loyola tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 47 minutes into the match, Zé Carlos Carioca had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roger Valladares. Xaxim AD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zé Carlos Carioca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Donato Ortiz hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Pedro Augusto Loyola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luan Cerezo in the 93rd minute of play forced Real Santos's goalkeeper Naldo Faria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedro Augusto Loyola sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Real Santos played a much better game than Xaxim AD and deserved their victory. The Xaxim AD players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
