After 5 minutes of play, Palmeiras Tem Mundial's Michel Costa made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dorival Britto was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dorival Britto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 40 played minutes Relampago got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Recife. If Bernardinho da Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The wind increased when Silvério Souza made the kick off in the second half. When Marcos das Neves fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palmeiras Tem Mundial's protests and gave Marcos das Neves a yellow card for diving instead. Marcos das Neves hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Bernardinho da Cunha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Dorival Britto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José Maria Ferreira was a little too slow when Ruy de Azevedo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 65th minute. The score was now 1-1. José Maria Ferreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bernardinho da Cunha took the ball and in the 92 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dorival Britto. Dorival Britto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1.
