In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind FLAMENGO's goalkeeper Frederico Magalhães, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Tiaguinho Messias struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Frederico Magalhães didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Figueirense F.C. When FLAMENGO's Ademir Passos in the 8th minute got a chance for a shot 8th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After a rather tough play, Figueirense F.C's Francisco de Toledo got a free kick in the 29th minute. FLAMENGO were awarded a corner in the 31th minute after Figueirense F.C's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gláuber Costa took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Gláuber Costa got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Paulinho Salles quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Ademir Passos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, FLAMENGO's Bebeto de Azevedo got a free kick in the 37th minute. Paulinho Salles made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ronaldão Tinoco in the 39th minute. Paulinho Salles made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Ronaldão Tinoco sent off a good shot on target. Ademir Passos did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 3-0 to the left of a surprised Paulinho Salles 45 minutes into the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

52 minutes into the game, João Augusto Correia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Paulinho Salles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronaldão Tinoco in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulinho Salles saved Figueirense F.C from getting behind. Ademir Passos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paulinho Salles having to make a save. Ronaldão Tinoco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Ademir Passos put it in 5-0 from a short distance just to the right of Paulinho Salles. When Vítor Veloso came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Figueirense F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vítor Veloso couldn't finish the play. 66 minutes into the game, Ademir Passos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Paulinho Salles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ronaldão Tinoco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulinho Salles having to interfere. 72 minutes into the match, Figueirense F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Ademir Passos came free, but Paulinho Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 73rd minute, Joélson Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match clock showed 75 minutes, the score became 7-0 when Ademir Passos sped through Figueirense F.C's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Paulinho Salles. Ronaldão Tinoco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulinho Salles having to interfere. Paulinho Salles came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by FLAMENGO's Ronaldão Tinoco. But to his dismay, Ronaldão Tinoco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. Ronaldão Tinoco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Paulinho Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 95 minutes into the match, Sílvio Luís Seco notched a goal, 9-0, to the right of Figueirense F.C's Paulinho Salles. Paulinho Salles was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FLAMENGO fully deserved thier win.
