The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Rui da Fonseca left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lembranca fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 8th minute Márcio de Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnaldo Santana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rui da Fonseca struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Maicon Jacinto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lembranca. If Tales de Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 30th minute Tales de Sousa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maicon Jacinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tales de Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maicon Jacinto having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rui da Fonseca in the 33rd minute of play forced Assungui EC's goalkeeper Maicon Jacinto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Márcio de Castro received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Arnaldo Santana came out and tried to block the shot, but Márcio de Castro slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 39th minute. Tales de Sousa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Márcio de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tales de Sousa to strike the kick off in the second half. Arnaldo Santana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Márcio de Castro in the 53rd minute of play. After 55 minutes Lembranca's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Cássio Goiano who took care of the corner kick. It was a well-played corner which Márcio de Castro managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. If Orlando Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Telmo de Carvalho hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Orlando Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnaldo Santana having to interfere. Márcio de Castro took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arnaldo Santana. Arnaldo Santana dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. In the 84th minute, Eduardo Gaspar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tales de Sousa succeeded in the game's 87th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 4-3. Maicon Jacinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tales de Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rui da Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maicon Jacinto having to interfere. Assungui EC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
