When Marcus Couto fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Flamengo's protests and gave Marcus Couto a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Flamengo's Marcus Couto got a free kick in the 31st minute. Beverni's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Jerônimo Queirós 35 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Beverni's Hílton Tepedino proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Beverni from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Beverni's Hílton Tepedino got control of the ball when Pedrinho Prado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcus Couto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pedrinho Prado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Hílton Tepedino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcus Couto in the 47thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Hílton Tepedino, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.

The wind increased when Jeferson Lima made the kick off in the second half. After 51 minutes, Dadá Loureiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Beverni and the Flamengo players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dadá Loureiro hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Marcus Couto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 67 minutes of play Flamengo's Marcus Couto was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hílton Tepedino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrinho Prado in the 75th minute of play. Marcus Diniz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hílton Tepedino having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Flamengo's zone, Emerson Alves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Laércio Donatello came out of the goal and Emerson Alves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jerônimo Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hílton Tepedino having to interfere. When Pedrinho Prado came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedrinho Prado couldn't finish the play. 88 minutes into the game, Flamengo's Marcus Diniz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hílton Tepedino made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Marcus Diniz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hílton Tepedino read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. Jerônimo Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hílton Tepedino having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the Flamengo players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
