In the 4th match minute, É osguri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliézer Mendonça to maneuver through the defense. 5 minutes into the game, Osvaldo Varela was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. É osguri's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cruzeiro Esporte Clube the free kick. In the 13th match minute, É osguri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romeu Catarinense to maneuver through the defense. After 14 played minutes, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Jailson Botelho shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alexsandro Albuquerque came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cruzeiro Esporte Clube reached it. After some careless play in the É osguri defense, Zé Mendes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alexsandro Albuquerque. The É osguri fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alexsandro Albuquerque should have stopped the shot. Alexsandro Albuquerque came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Erivaldo Aguiar. But to his dismay, Erivaldo Aguiar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Josué Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Alexsandro Albuquerque tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Paulo José Bastos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Osvaldo Varela in the 30th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in É osguri's zone, Josué Santos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alexsandro Albuquerque came out of the goal and Josué Santos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Osvaldo Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Paulo José Bastos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Osvaldo Varela fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Ronaldo de Sousa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Paulo José Bastos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Zé Mendes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cruzeiro Esporte Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. After 47 played minutes É osguri got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldo de Sousa. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

The wind increased when Zé Mendes made the kick off in the second half. Erivaldo Aguiar kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Paulo José Bastos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Osvaldo Varela's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in É osguri's zone, Erivaldo Aguiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alexsandro Albuquerque came out of the goal and Erivaldo Aguiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Erivaldo Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexsandro Albuquerque having to interfere. When Zé Mendes came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Cruzeiro Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Mendes couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eliézer Mendonça during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, É osguri's Eliézer Mendonça got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Jeferson Macedo hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. During the 80th minute of the match Osvaldo Varela completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Osvaldo Varela a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to É osguri getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Osvaldo Varela hit a great ball. Zé Mendes kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Erivaldo Aguiar struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Alexsandro Albuquerque didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cruzeiro Esporte Clube. In the 92nd minute, Ronaldo de Sousa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 94th minute, Zé Mendes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The É osguri fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
