The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Charles Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lino Gomes in the 7th minute of play. Rogério de Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Baptista, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Lino Gomes struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Charles Maia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for S. E. Manda Brasa. In the 19th minute, Yan Lucas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rogério de Azevedo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 25th minute Marco Baptista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rogério de Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Sanfogo's zone, Lino Gomes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charles Maia came out of the goal and Lino Gomes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rogério de Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Vítor Bezerra in the 37th minute of the match. In the 39th minute Lino Gomes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Charles Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 43 minutes into the game, José Vítor Bezerra was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sanfogo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave S. E. Manda Brasa the free kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when José Vítor Bezerra made the kick off in the second half. Fabiano Arantes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Charles Maia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. Lino Gomes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luiz Eduardo Vergílio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Charles Maia having to make a save. In the 59th minute, S. E. Manda Brasa's Adhemar Vidal seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Adhemar Vidal the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of S. E. Manda Brasa protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Adhemar Vidal had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 58 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for S. E. Manda Brasa! The goalkeeper, Rogério de Azevedo, was totally fooled by Sanfogo's Luiz Fernando Bertassi, who 61 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After 66 minutes of play, Sanfogo's Gino Ramalho made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rogério de Azevedo was left in no man's land by his defense there! 77 minutes into the match, S. E. Manda Brasa's goalkeeper Rogério de Azevedo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Murillo Marinho. In the 78th minute, Murillo Marinho reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Rogério de Azevedo. The goal made the score 1-4. Fabiano Arantes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manda Brasa's Rogério de Azevedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save S. E. Manda Brasa from getting a goal against them. Rogério de Azevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Murillo Marinho in the 97th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Sanfogo eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
