Pontinha EC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 48th minute Rony Sousa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisão Motta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Claudinho Matos to strike the kick off in the second half. Pontinha EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave San miguel the free kick. In the 80th match minute, Pontinha EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Fernando Sousa to maneuver through the defense. If Simão Paulista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 85 minutes, Waldemar de Godoi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the San miguel and the Pontinha EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Pontinha EC booed when San miguel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diogo Severo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rony Sousa scored 3-0 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luisão Motta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. San miguel's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
