With a little luck, Team Piracanjuba's Durval Madureira got control of the ball when Vicente Mendonça tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hudson Saldanha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nando Bastos having to interfere.
