With a couple of smart ball manuevers Antônio Arce in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Beto Mattos saved Salvador FC from getting behind. Wiliam Simões might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Claudinei Mendes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wiliam Simões ran back to his position shaking his head. Claudinei Mendes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wiliam Simões in the 22nd minute of the match. Antônio Arce's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Beto Mattos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wiliam Simões couldn't finish the play. Trainspotting's Claudinei Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruy Britto in the 87th minute of play. When Antônio Arce fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Trainspotting's protests and gave Antônio Arce a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Trainspotting getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Antônio Arce hit a great ball. Antônio Arce's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Beto Mattos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 97th minute of play. The Trainspotting players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
