Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nuno Fernandes in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rafa Marinho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 21 minutes into the match, Válter Quadros had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rafa Marinho. Cotinguiba AD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Válter Quadros was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. A collision led to Cotinguiba AD getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Sidney Proença hit a great ball. Ajacio's William de Medeiros got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nuno Fernandes in the 33rd minute of play forced Cotinguiba AD's goalkeeper Rafa Marinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rafa Marinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from William de Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. 36 minutes into the match, Cotinguiba AD's goal looked a bit too open when William de Medeiros came free, but Rafa Marinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 73rd minute, Nuno Fernandes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
