With a little luck, Cotinguiba AD's Rafa Marinho got control of the ball when Ronaldo Secco tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 26 minutes, Alberto Guerra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Corinthians's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Guerra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nicolas Paes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rafa Marinho having to make a save. After 30 played minutes Corinthians got a freekick which was hit by Nicolas Paes. If Alberto Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. With an all-out effort, Corinthians's Rafa Marinho threw himself towards the right post 40 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Tomás Alves, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
