Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jonas Paiva to make the kick off. With a little luck, Trainspotting's Claudinei Mendes got control of the ball when Luís Albuquerque tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Albuquerque got free with Claudinei Mendes in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Antônio Arce charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
