After 5 played minutes Corinthians got a freekick which was hit by Nicolas Paes. Egídio Duarte took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 16th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dráuzio Maia. Celeste FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Dráuzio Maia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Guerra, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Alan Cabral kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Dráuzio Maia came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Corinthians's Alberto Guerra. But to his dismay, Alberto Guerra quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When Ronaldo Secco came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Corinthians fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldo Secco couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Alberto Guerra put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Dráuzio Maia. Dráuzio Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Guerra in the 39th minute of play. Francisco Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Paes having to interfere. Corinthians's Nicolas Paes got his second yellow card of the match in the 46th minute. The referee ordered Nicolas Paes off the ground. The supporters of Celeste FC booed when Corinthians was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicolas Paes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 50th minute Celeste FC were awarded a corner. Betão Amaral went to the cornerflag to take it.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Augusto Sampaio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Adrianinho Paes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Augusto Sampaio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ronaldo Secco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 62nd minute, Alan Cabral fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. When Ronaldo Secco, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 64 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Dráuzio Maia was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Alan Cabral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 72nd minute, Corinthians's Alan Cabral dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. Alan Cabral's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dráuzio Maia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. Ronaldo Secco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Dráuzio Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Pedro Augusto Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th minute Alberto Guerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dráuzio Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronaldo Secco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Dráuzio Maia made a huge save. The Celeste FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Corinthians were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
