Angelo Medeiros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Válter Batista's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ulisses Queirós in the 20th minute of play forced Penedia SS's goalkeeper Angelo Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Claudinei Terra blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edu Ferreira having to make a save. Penedia SS's Angelo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ulisses Queirós in the 31st minute of play. Gugu da Rocha charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gugu da Rocha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gugu da Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Claudinei Terra blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edu Ferreira having to make a save. Luís Fábio Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 45th minute, Christian de Salles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edu Ferreira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinei Terra in the 48th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Anselmo Esteves got free with Angelo Medeiros in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 56 minutes, Luiz Paulo Salles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Penedia SS and the Andirobal players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Andirobal booed when Penedia SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Paulo Salles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edu Ferreira was left in no man's land by his defense there! Claudinei Terra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luís Fábio Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Penedia SS's Gugu da Rocha suffered a fractured collar bone after 75 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 75 minutes, Hélder Custódio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Andirobal and the Penedia SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 76th match minute, Andirobal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hélder Custódio to maneuver through the defense. 85 minutes into the match, Andirobal's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Fábio Dracena came free, but Edu Ferreira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Andirobal's zone, Luís Fábio Dracena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edu Ferreira came out of the goal and Luís Fábio Dracena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edu Ferreira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luís Fábio Dracena's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. Ulisses Queirós's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Angelo Medeiros read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. If Válter Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Penedia SS had played much better football throughout.
