An unexpectedly hard shot by Abel Gomes in the 5th minute of play forced Itaju's goalkeeper Cipriano Prestes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Alberto Prata got free with Jorginho Branco in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jano Valle charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jano Valle the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Brusque getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Jano Valle hit a great ball. 14 minutes into the game, Carlos Alberto Prata cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Jorginho Branco was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Carlos Alberto Prata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorginho Branco having to interfere. Frédson Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Itaju getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Evandro Leão hit a great ball. In the 35th minute of the match João Carlos de Medeiros sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cipriano Prestes skillfully saved the ball. After 37 played minutes, Brusque's Pedrinho Furlan shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cipriano Prestes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Brusque reached it. In the 42nd minute, Frédson Dracena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 44 minutes into the match, Brusque's Manfredo Silveira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cipriano Prestes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cipriano Prestes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manfredo Silveira, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frédson Dracena made a kick off. Carlos Alberto Prata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorginho Branco having to interfere. 57 minutes into the match, Brusque's Manfredo Silveira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cipriano Prestes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Itaju's Frédson Dracena got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Brusque's zone, Frédson Dracena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorginho Branco came out of the goal and Frédson Dracena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Brusque booed when Itaju was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wanderson Vale didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cipriano Prestes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abel Gomes in the 68th minute of the match. Manfredo Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Cipriano Prestes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Manfredo Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Evandro Leão hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Itaju's Cipriano Prestes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Itaju from getting a goal against them. Itaju's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Abel Gomes 88 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Itaju's Cipriano Prestes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel Gomes in the 94th minute of play. Itaju were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
