With an all-out effort, Queluz SC's Vânderson Cunha threw himself towards the right post 24 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Adhemar Pombal, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Felipe Pontes got in the 25th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Vânderson Cunha handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Maurício Pena during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Maurício Pena kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. 32 minutes into the game, Diguinho Queirós was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pato F.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Queluz SC the free kick. The supporters of Queluz SC booed when Pato F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diguinho Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Queluz SC's Adhemar Pombal slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Vânderson Cunha. That made the score 1-0 after 37 minutes of play. Adhemar Pombal might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vânderson Cunha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Adhemar Pombal ran back to his position shaking his head. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adhemar Pombal to make the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Felipe Pontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Queluz SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felipe Pontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Pontes in the 53rd minute of play forced Pato F.C's goalkeeper Vânderson Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vânderson Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adhemar Pombal in the 56th minute of play. After 57 played minutes Pato F.C got a freekick which was hit by Aníbal França. After having played for 61 minutes, Luís Gustavo Vieira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pato F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Gustavo Vieira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
