After a defensive mix-up in Ibirarema's zone, Dida Siqueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aníbal Zonta came out of the goal and Dida Siqueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 22nd minute, João Paulo Couto made a precise shot to the right of Aníbal Zonta. Ibirarema's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. A collision led to Baiazinha getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Dida Siqueira hit a great ball. Duarte Lira hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Ibirarema's Aníbal Zonta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Ibirarema from getting a goal against them. In the 46th minute, Oscar Tavares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Genílson Tinoco struck a weak shot in the 50th minute. Aníbal Zonta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Baiazinha. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Duarte Lira was the one to do the kick off. Aníbal Zonta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Paulo Couto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aníbal Zonta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tostão Sergipano in the 59th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Ibirarema's Dudu Tasso got a free kick in the 60th minute. 71 minutes into the game, José Paulo Favoretto threw the ball into play from the sideline. Ibirarema's Dudu Tasso quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The throw-in from José Paulo Favoretto in the 80th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Ibirarema's Dudu Tasso. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tostão Sergipano in the 82nd minute of play forced Ibirarema's goalkeeper Aníbal Zonta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aníbal Zonta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tostão Sergipano, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute.
