In the 8th minute, Jean Linhares made a precise shot to the right of Cipriano Mazza. Santos FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Dedé Vaz kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vito Mota during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 18 played minutes Santos FC got a freekick which was hit by Vito Mota. Zé Pedro Loureiro's late challenge caught a ESPARTACUS FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zé Pedro Loureiro helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Santos FC's Zé Pedro Loureiro got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Cipriano Mazza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jean Linhares in the 32nd minute of play. In the 34th minute, Dedé Fontes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ESPARTACUS FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 41st minute of the match, Belmiro Trancoso got a very nice opportunity to score, but Valério Sousa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 42nd minute Zé Pedro Loureiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valério Sousa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Jean Linhares managed to get in a good position for a shot. ESPARTACUS FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jean Linhares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cipriano Mazza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half ESPARTACUS FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zé Pedro Loureiro to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Kléber Terra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 58thth minute of the game Jean Linhares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Santos FC's Cipriano Mazza was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of ESPARTACUS FC booed when Santos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romeu Rossi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cipriano Mazza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jean Linhares in the 68th minute of the match. Zé Pedro Loureiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee ignored ESPARTACUS FC's protests and gave Christian Dantas a yellow card for diving instead. Christian Dantas hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Santos FC's Cipriano Mazza got control of the ball when Dedé Fontes tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 89 minutes, Sidnei da Fonseca mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santos FC and the ESPARTACUS FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 89th match minute, Santos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sidnei da Fonseca to maneuver through the defense. When Jean Linhares came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the ESPARTACUS FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jean Linhares couldn't finish the play. ESPARTACUS FC played a much better game than Santos FC and deserved their victory. The Santos FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
